One of the things, which I most love about the road, is the opportunity to step into other worlds, often long gone. There is something about Main Street, USA, that will always draw me in, coaxing me to pull over and walk the streets of towns that remind me of both my own youth, as well as of places I only know through others shared memories.
Mount Airy was not Mayberry, at least not the one we are familiar with through the television show; but it does seek to capture this moment in history, preserved through the Andy Griffith Show.
I loved this sculpture, which captures the opening scene, of the show; and which Kate enjoyed posing with, as well.
