To love a painting is to feel that this presence is… not an object but a voice.

Corn Harvest

by

Newell Convers Wyeth

Autumn is upon us! The vibrancy of these colors shout out to my soul, proclaiming the splendid beauty of the changing season, as busy hands work hard to prepare for what will come, regardless of whether or not winter will be welcomed, it will come.

I am absolutely astonished at Wyeth’s mastery of the shadow in the forefront, of the painting, that directs your eyes toward the beautiful blue stream, and onto the pastures, the house and back to the trees and dotted blue skies.

This painting reminds us that God’s gives us the colors of autumn to prepare us for the bleakness of winter.

Art can never exist without naked beauty displaced.
