The Dialogue

Happy Birthday Mother

My plans for March 9th are to visit an orchid show, my Mother’s favorite flowers, which I love; and yes, eat fried chicken, that I do not so much care about, but that she loved. One of the things I decided a few years ago, was that instead of spending my Mother’s birthday grieving, I would celebrate who she was and what she meant to me; it has been a good choice.

Happy Birthday Mother! I hope you are having carrot cake in heaven with those you love; I will always miss you and be ever so grateful for the time we had together.

  1. That’s sweet and such a great idea. Our wonderful dad passed away February 22.
He loved yard sale hunting and always had in mind someone special while shopping: a new dress for his great granddaughter, a set of baseball cards for a grandson, costume jewelry- lots of costume jewelry— for his daughters.
His joy was in the giving. So that’s what I’ll do on his birthday.

    • Oh Sylvia, I am so very sorry for your loss; I truly pray the Lord gives you and your family comfort. There are no words to minster to our grief, but at least we have hope in Christ and the certainty of the resurrection.

What a thoughtful way, your father had, to approach yard sales (which both me and my Mother love[d]); I think celebrating his birthday searching for a perfect find, is a wonderful idea!

May God bless you and your family.
